Makunda Hospital starts a New Hospital at Tripura

March 23, 2005

The new hospital at Kamalacherra (Ambassa) in Tripura will start as a dispensary on March 28, 2005. Last week an agreement was made between Makunda Hospital and the local community for accommodation and temporary premises for the hospital to function from. The land to be used for the new hospital is being cleared of trees. The construction of the first building, which will have the registration, OPD, pharmacy and laboratory will start in about two month’s time. A team consisting of a doctor, VHW, Lab technician and ECG technician will operate from the new site and more doctors are being recruited to join the team. Furniture, refrigerator, small autoclave for minor procedures, ECG machine, microscope, diagnostic kits and assorted drugs will be installed in the dispensary. There is a plan to buy a X-ray machine and a generator for the new hospital.
